Our Wedding Ceremony + First Look
Hello, hello! Oh my goodness, It’s been WAY too long. Thanks for sticking around, truly. Are we loving the fresh website look?! Still have a few edits to do, but personally loving it. Eeek! The long anticipated wedding posts are about to begin, so I hope you’re ready!
First of all, I got married on 11.14.20 and I am now Mrs. Jessica Sachs! Can’t even believe that I’m a married woman. We have so much to catch up on! Clearly super behind on blog posts, so please don’t judge HA. I’m going to work backwards here… because I’m so excited to share, so my bachelorette/shower post will have to wait. Oops! I feel like I also need to break up these wedding posts into a few different sections, so bare with me. For this first post, I want to share the first look & wedding ceremony. All the feels reliving this with you all!
It was the most special day.
OUR VENUE – Jorgensen Farms Oak Grove
New Albany, OH
I only looked at ONE venue in person, because I knew that it would be the one! This location was everything I had dreamed of.
I wanted it to be be cozy, romantic, aesthetically beautiful (neutral of course) and be away from the city. Most importantly, wanted it to feel like “home” you could say. The moment I walked in, I was SOLD. The cocktail hour room has high ceilings, and is so bright & airy! The open fields/land was also SO appealing to me. I facetimed Justin when I went to visit, and he fully trusted my decision making. I locked it in as quickly as I could! They have another venue on their property too, called the Historic Barn, if that’s more your vibe!
THE FIRST LOOK
We ultimately decided to do a first look so that we weren’t rushed after the ceremony for pictures. We thought long & hard about it before making the decision. We had a Fall wedding, so not a lot of daylight to work with after the ceremony. Truthfully, I’m so glad we did one! It was such a special moment between us two, and it definitely helped calmed our nerves pre ceremony. Our wedding party watched the whole thing behind the scenes, and took some videos! I LOVE these photos.
CEREMONY DETAILS
MUSIC
Pre-ceremony: I actually made a playlist for this & sent it over to our DJ! I’m BIG into music, so I worked really hard on the selects. It was all instrumental, and a chill vibe.
Bridal party: Canon In D- Brooklyn Duo
Bridal March: A Thousand Years- The Piano Guys
Recessional: It’s a Beautiful Day (instrumental)- U2 cover by MadManMancusi
BRIDAL PARTY
We had 7 bridesmaids, and 7 groomsmen. Our flower girl was my niece, Lily, and our ring bearer was Justin’s little cousin Owen. Of COURSE Bruti was included in our ceremony. He’s our little fur baby and we knew it was a must, love him so much! My maid of honor, Keri, carried him down the aisle, then he sat with my brother and my dad. He ended up crying at the end of the ceremony because he wanted to be with us, so on my way back down the aisle I swooped him right up. The best exit if you ask me! The girls dresses were all from Lulus. I let them pick out whatever style they wanted, as long as it was long + black. I’ll chat more about this later! The guys were all in Mens Warehouse, including Owen. I found Lily’s dress at Davids Bridal, so adorable right?!
Fun fact: I didn’t smile AT ALL the whole way down the aisle to Justin while walking with my dad because I was SOOOO nervous. I regret that because the photos are ehhh haha, but it is what is is! I’m sure Justin was like EH?! She good orrr? LOL
Our ceremony was BEAUTIFUL.
We did not do our own vows, because we knew we wouldn’t make it through if we did. I’m super emotional! Our Pastor Jake, spoke the most beautiful words and it was so touching + special. Having a religious ceremony was extremely important to us, especially since we didn’t get married in a church. I picked out a few scriptures that I wanted to include, otherwise Jake put it all together and made it personable for us. He was a true blessing. Still is, we’re so happy to know him! During wedding planning I was so worried that we wouldn’t find someone to marry us that we connected with. I spoke to a few different officiants, and it just didn’t feel right, until we found him! He truly challenged us to look deep into our relationship with each other, and with The Lord. Post ceremony we received SO many compliments!
Can you even handle Bruti’s little face?! ANGEL!
