Hello, Armoire Army! (Totally made that up, but I kinda dig it..yay or nay?)

SO excited to share today’s post with you because it is all about a fun, spring collab with thredUP! First, I want to give you the scoop on this awesome company. ThredUP is an online consignment store that features many popular name brands for up to 90% off. This is no exaggeration either, I browsed through there for hours and found so many awesome deals on high-end brands! The items are in excellent condition with adorable branding (I am a sucker for a pretty box and packaging :)). Not only can you shop online at thredUP, but you can sell to them too! When you are done with clothing, simply hop on their website and request a ‘Clean Out Kit”  which will be mailed to you and ready to be filled up with old, like new clothing! There are two payout options, ‘consignment’ and ‘upfront’ which are listed in more detail HEREClothing that is not acceptable is passed onto third-party sellers or their textile recycling partners to be re-purposed into new, useful products such as carpets and pillow stuffing. How cool is that?!

My collaboration with thredUP was focused on their March campaign, Spring Capsule Wardrobe. I picked out four different pieces in which I have added as staples to my 2016 spring wardrobe. Each of these items can be easily mix and matched, and styled in many different ways! Building a capsule wardrobe is a fun process but requires some discipline when deciding which items to purge and which items to add. Below is a quick list of tips I have put together to help you build a successful spring capsule wardrobe!

1.Take your time when clearing out your closet. Put all of your spring items together and carefully evaluate each, asking yourself questions such as “How often do I wear this?” or “How can I style this piece multiple ways?” Make this two separate piles of items you love, and items you are ready to say goodbye to.

2 If needed,  I suggest bringing in a friend or family member who can be honest with you and provide that extra push to get rid of items you haven’t touched in quite some time. I know personally, I have trouble letting go of certain items because I tell myself I will wear them again, yet, they’ve been sitting in the back of my closet for years unworn.

3.  Be sure to do some research before shopping for new items. Gain a clear vision of what style you are going for this spring whether it be by searching on pinterest or flipping through fashion magazines.

4.  Examine your everyday lifestyle when making new purchases. If you have your eye on an item that can only be useful for one part of your everyday schedule, pass on it. Capsule wardrobe items are supposed to be versatile and full of items you NEED.

5.  Once you have wrapped up the process, take some time to make of list of different ways you can style each item. If you are feeling ambitious, have someone take photos of you in these different looks and make a display board. I do this with my clients sometimes when they are struggling with styling their items and remembering how we styled them together. It makes everyday life so much easier, especially early in the mornings!

I hope my tips are useful to you all, whether you are wanting to build your first capsule wardrobe or are buckling down on your current. Below are photos of the thredUP items I chose for my spring capsule! White jeans were a no-brainer for me, I love them for spring and know I can style them casual or dressy. I chose the white and tan striped shirt because I knew it was a great layering piece, the colors are neutral and would work with just about anything! My FAVORITE find was the over sized denim jacket, I am so in love with it! I found that this jacket is also a great staple because I can layer underneath, or throw it on over a maxi or with white jeans a T. A go-to jacket is so necessary when building a capsule wardrobe and this is definitely mine. Lastly, the grey point-toe heels. Heels are great because they can be styled for work, dinners or weekend nightlife! These are a MUST in my wardrobe, and I have found they pair awesome with these white jeans or with blue denim. I made sure to style the denim jacket and white jeans with booties and a white v-neck as well.

She had a way of making me feel so comfortable in front of the camera and that is something I truly appreciate in a photographer! We shot in Granville, OH and frolicked around the cute downtown area for a few hours over coffee and laughs. I hope you all love these images as much as I do! Contact Kate if you are needing professional photos in the mid-Ohio area, she is extremely talented and a true pleasure to work with.  🙂 Contact: [email protected] |
